FAQ
What is baptism?
Baptism
is a process of cleansing. You can be baptized by water, fire, and the
Holy Spirit. Traditionally those who accept Jesus as Lord and enter the
Kingdom of Heaven are baptized by water.
What is the purpose of water baptism?
Baptism
is a public declaration of your allegiance to Jesus Christ. As you pass
through the waters, baptism symbolizes the drowning of the Old Man, born
of the flesh, and the emerging of the New Creation, born of the Spirit.
The
waters of baptism represent the escape from the world system, which is
under divine judgment. When we are baptized, we are baptized into
Christ's death. Death puts an end to our relationship with the world
system, but baptism also represents a new birth into Christ Jesus as
Sovereign Lord.
How do I find a pastor from a Church of the Kingdom of Heaven to
baptize me?
You
don't need to find a pastor. A believer can baptize you in a lake,
river, or even the bathtub. Study Mark 16:16; Acts 2:38; Acts 8:26-40;
Romans, Chapter 6; Galatians 3:27-29; and the other New Testament
references to baptism.
The
believer doing the baptizing usually reads some scripture on baptism,
such as Romans, Chapter 6. Then he asks for your oral confession,
preferably before witnesses, that you give your allegiance to Jesus
Christ and renounce your allegiance to all worldly governments. Then he
says, "Upon the authority of Jesus Christ, the Head of the Church, and
in obedience to the Great Commission, I baptize you, (name), in the name
of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit." Immediately he
submerges you under the water for a moment.
